Cyberbullying πŸ‘️‍πŸ—¨️

 Kia Ora Readers!

This week for hurumanu 1 with Mrs Alpers we have been learning about different types of bullying. One type of bullying that can be very scary to go through that we learn't about is cyber bullying. Cyber-bullying is through online, most cyberbully's bully through social media apps.  It can happen for many different reasons or even for no reason. We read a document about what happens if you get caught cyber bullying in New Zealand and we had to answer some questions. After I finished with the document I had to begin a poster to persuade people to not cyberbully. Since I have had a lot of experience with canva I decided to use it. I firstly started of with a template and then I started adding more details to it to make it more detailed. After I finished it I downloaded my poster and begun writing this blog post.

What do you know about cyberbullying?

Feel free to comment.

Shaping up- What I know so farπŸ“ŠπŸ“

 Hello Readers,

Shaping up is a subject I have had this year, it is about reading and maths. For the maths side of shaping up we have been learning about geometry. We got put into  four groups the groups are: Pizza, Nacho, Waffle and Chocolate. My group Waffle, has been learning about the transformation part of geometry. I learned about reflection, rotation, enlargement, and translation.

The specific parts I have learn't about for reflection is what changes when you put something up to a mirror, and how you reflect a shape without putting a shape up to a mirror. I learn't that rotation changes the shape quite a lot no matter how far you rotate it. Enlargement is when you make the whole shape bigger by using the squares on a maths book to help you. Translation is when you move a shape without rotating or changing anything about it.

Here is a example of enlargement:

Women's rights ✊πŸ½πŸ™Ž‍♀️

 Kia Ora Readers!

For the past two weeks in hurumanu one we have been learning about the protest of women's rights. We read a story about Kate Sheppard and how she got New Zealand to be the first country to allow women to vote. After we finished reading the story we got set activity's to do, one part of the activity was to make something to make people sign the petition Kate Sheppard wrote.  It had to include: a title, illustrations, and information. I decided to make mine on canva, which is a website you can make posters, info graphics, presentations, videos and much more. Firstly I used a template then changed some parts of the poster and included my own writing. This activity wasn't that challenging the hardest part was only finding illustrations. The easiest part was changing the wording and making it look neat.

Inferring Definition πŸ” 🧐

Hey Readers!

A  few weeks ago in reading with Mr Mitchell the groups Ice and Cheese have been learning  what inferring is and how to use it when reading.  Next Mr Mitchell begun talking about what our learning outcome would be for this term so far, which is : inferring. Learning what inferring meant at first was sort of confusing but as Mr Mitchell told the class more us examples I got the idea of what the teacher was talking about. Since we had to use inferring for one of our tasks for the book we were reading we have to explain in our blog post what the word "inferring" is. Bellow this description is my definition of inferring.

What is inferring?

Inferring is reading the text and using the keywords to figure out what has happened in the story line. You infer mostly everyday even though you don't notice it. It can be called "reading between the lines" by teachers. By using your memory of what has happened in a story/book you include more details to rewrite a sentence.

An example of inferring is:

They don't have any power or chargers because it said in the text " the last phone battery had gone dead on day five."
