Van GohπŸ–Œ️🎨

 Kia Ora Readers!

This term in art we have been learning how to do impasto painting. One of our tasks was to research and answer questions about Van Goh. We had to go onto a google doc read the description about Van Goh and go on some websites to find answers to questions. For me it was a little bit tricky to find a answer to the third question because some people had different answers so I was a little confused. But I ended up using my answer I found. I hope you enjoy looking at the answers to the questions!

Answer the following questions and post these to your blog:

  1. What does the word impasto mean? Look up the word in lexipedia.com, then type your answer here:

Impasto means the paintings that show paint strokes from pallet knives and brushes.

  1. How can an impasto brushstrokes express emotions?

It expresses emotions from the texture and how the art looks.

  1. Was Van Gogh one of the first painters to use impasto technique?

No, Van Gogh was not the first painter to use the impasto technique; it was Venetian Renaissance artists Titian and Tintoretto.

  1. When you finish these questions use the information to create a post for your blog about these two paintings.

Thank you for reading my blogpost!

Improving Cartoon Watercolour art πŸ’§ 🎨

 Hello Readers!

Today I decided I wanted to try improve my watercolour painting and drawing. I have been working on my cartoon watercolour paint as well as drawing. Since I wasn't happy with the some of my art I did last time I tried to re do them but use different drawings of them. The cartoon characters I did again to improve are Pan Pan, Grizz and Ice bear from "We Bare Bears." Also Gumball, Darwin and Anais from " The Amazing World Of Gumball."

This task was not set for me but improving my water colouring is a goal I set for my self. For me this task was very fun because I like to do all sorts of different art. My favourite type of art is probably abstract and watercolour. Colouring the drawings was a little bit tricky for me because the drawings are kind of detailed. Drawing was easy for me and I love to draw and I have some skills. When I completed my art I was happy with it but I'm not really sure if I improved.

  Do you think I improved?

Here is the art I tried to improve :

We Bare Bears Art

Gumball Art

Darwin and Anais Art

Matariki-art

So this year we got to pick from multiple ways of sharing art. The options were : visual art, dance and music. I choose Visual art so During Art with Miss McLeod we have been doing Matariki Art. First we had to read some books about Matariki, then Miss McLeod showed everyone some examples of Matariki art. After that we got a piece of blank paper and we had to draw our draft drawing. We did that for about 2 weeks then on the third week we had to see the different mediums. Then the next week we had to figure out if we wanted to use pastel or paint, I choose pastel because my drawing needs to be blended.
My story of my art -
My story is based of one of the examples Miss McLeod shared all of us. For me it shares the story of Matariki because it has a ocean, and also the night sky which is a bit blue and the rest is black but blended. Maybe next time I think I might trying using paint and for the ocean I could make the paint kinda watery so it’s blended together.

Self potrait -Art

Hey readers!
This term during art with Mrs Jones and Miss McLelland we have been making self potraits. First we all wrote complaments about everyone then we added the complaments to a google doc. Then Miss McLelland took a photo of everyone, the next following week the teachers printed out the photos of us. After that we had to draw a line in the middle of the photo, then we showed it to the teachers it needed to be neat. Then we glued the half of the photo to a small peice of paper, then started drawing the other side of our face.

When we finished the other half of our face we showed it to Mrs Jones. Then we glued the small peice of paper to a bigger peice. We needed to make sure that it has no un glued bits. Once I finished that Mrs Jones printed out the complaments. My Portrait is bellow!
