Would You Rather - Activity Twelve ( Autumn Learning Journey)

 Kia Ora Readers!

Today I begun the Autumn Learning Journey I choose to do one of the Autumn Learning Journey activity. This years Autumn Learning Journey's theme was music which was another reason why I choose to do one of the activities because I know quite a lot about music and want to know more. For today's task I choose to do activity twelve, it was a would you rather question I had to answer in a blog post. The question was: would you rather have no rhythm or only be able to sing off key. It was quite tricky to  think of a answer but after lots of thinking I managed to get my answer.

I didn't just want a boring blog post about a would you rather question so I thought creatively and  made a powtoon answering the question. Powtoon is a website you can use to share your learning such as making a: presentation, add, video, etc. You can also use different characters and layouts to make it more appealing. Here is the link to the website if you would like to try it out: Powtoon.

As I begun the powtoon I made sure that I had a appealing first scene so that readers would want to watch the video and not click off. Once I finished making the powtoon presentation I included music and made sure everything was how I wanted it to be. After that I exported the video and watched it to make sure there weren't any mistakes and then put the presentation on this blog post. I hope you enjoy.

Making Music For Finding Dory ( Counting The Beat)

 Kia Ora Readers!

For the final week in counting the beat if we have been trying to create our own music. Mr Mitchell firstly  showed the class some examples of music and asked us if we would share it with a friend, the songs were Just Loose it and Hey Jude. Personally I wouldn't really share the songs  to my friends because  the first song "Just loose it" lyrics was to fast and hard to understand and  the other song "Hey Jude" was to calming for me. After we listened to the songs we watched the scene of the truck falling from Finding Dory without any music or sounds.  Then Mr Mitchell asked the class how we felt about it, I said " I felt as if I needed to add music to the scene." Next we watched  the scene with a  song different to the original scene, most of us thought it didn't suit the scene. Finally we watched it with the original sound, we all agreed it  was definitely better than the other versions and suits the scene very well.

After  we finished watching all the videos, Mr Mitchell  told us we needed to finish all our hurumanu tasks and showed him them blogged to start the task. Then Mr Mitchell begun explaining the task, the task was to find or create a song/beat to the scene of the truck falling from Finding Dory. The websites we could choose from to make the music was either  Sound Nation or SoundTrap and then use Kapwing to overlap the music to the video. I choose to use Sound Nation to create the music. I created a account on the website I made a empty draft then started adding beats and sounds to create the moment of the truck falling. At first I just included random sounds and beats but then I added effects and changed the volume for each beat to the music. I also checked to see if the video and music would go together every time I changed anything about the music.

Once I completed my music I put the video on a empty template then included the audio. I fixed any mistakes that stopped the music from sounding any different then published the video and watched it to see who it would be with the music. My music for the video was the genre of percussion and woodwind. The feeling of my music is excitement and fear I tried putting it together to explain the scene in music and emotions. The hardest part about this task was making the music suit the scene because I had to change it around a lot and I didn't want to use the same beats all the time. The easiest part was overlapping the music to the scene because I just needed to do two steps to do so.

Have you made your own music before or tried doing anything similar to what I've done?

Here is my overlapped music to the scene:

A Local Hero (Naeem Rashid)

Kia Ora Readers!

For the last two weeks in hurumanu 1 (heroes) we having being learning about local heroes. We learnt that no matter where you live there is always a role model or someone who helps your community which can be called a hero. The task Mr Mitchell set us for this week was to find a hero from either a person from the terror attacks or the big earthquake (which are natural disasters that has happened around me) . I choose terror attacks because it relates to my religion and who I am. We then had to find a hero involved in the issue and write a DLO about them which couldn't be on a google slide because Mr Mitchell said its very boring. I firstly researched about the heroes involved in the terror attacks on a website here is the website:Mosque heroes.

Once I finished researching I decided to make a Biteable which is a video that you can make with all sorts of different clips and designs. At the same as I was creating it I made sure I included what Mr Mitchell told us to include, which was: What did they do? What qualities did they show? Where were they? How did they get involved? Why did they get involved? Did they earn any bravery awards? And how has their life been affected? After I finished creating my video I made sure I included everything, I included some music and then exported it to make sure the video would be published.

Here is my biteable:

A local hero on Biteable.

What is a hero?

A hero is someone who would put others first over themselves.

You can be a role model and show what is right and wrong.

If you are a hero you will never give up and always persist.

You respect anyone no matter who you are and what you do even  you are different to anyone.

A hero always is helpful, brave, courageous and kind  to everyone.

The last way of telling someone what a hero is, is: "doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do" which is a quote I learnt from Mr Mitchell.

Music through the Decades

 Hey Readers!

For the past few weeks in "Counting the Beat " we having being learning about famous singers and music. In this weeks lesson we focused on the change in music throughout the decades. My class watched a video about how the music has changed which included people singing. After we watched the video we had to get into no more then a group of four. My group which was Venice, Amanda and me.  Then make a presentation about the change in decades between 1900 to 2010, they all had to have a slide. In each slide it had to have the genre that was popular or new, a famous singer from that decade,  the clothing that was popular in the decade, a iconic item,  a famous song and a re released song ( if you could find one).

I then made a google slide and sent it to Venice and Amanda. Next we begun adding the information and facts. At first we got a bit confused but then we read what we needed to include in the slide and got the hang of it. Once we finished all the slides and checked if all the videos worked. We  also made the slide show have a specific theme, for example: my group theme was pastel colours and adding shade to the images etc.

Here is the video we watched :

Here is the amazing slide my group and I created:

Drama Dialog

 Hello everyone!

In Drama we have been starting to create a play that can tell a story. We had to include characters, roles,  a problem, a way of showing the audience  your emotions, a costume to show how the character would look , props, and music. Some of  us used a dialog already made and others made their own. The majority of the class did theirs about bullies but my group did a romantic comedy. My group hasn't  got a title for it yet but we are still adding more lines to make it more interesting. The main characters are Rose Ainsley and Zakey Evans which are played by me (Jordan)  and Hollie.  The two other roles are the Duke and Agea played by Amanda and Venice. Venice and I are also the shop owners at the moment.

Have you ever been in a play?  What would you include in a play if you had to make one?

Here is some images of what we've done:

Political Decision-Making

 Hey Readers!

This week in hurumanu 1 we have been learning about Parliament and the steps it takes to the decision making of who the government would become. We watched a video about how it would happen, there are two main votes we do to select a government to be the leader of a party which is : the leader they want and who they want to represent locally. Every three years there is a election to determine who the prime minister of New Zealand would be.

The steps parliament follows to pass a new law are: a bill ( law draft) is passed to parliament to get a read from the prime minster, next a close party reads the bill and fixes any mistakes, the public also get to read it and change it if needed, after that it gets a second reading, the mps debate the bill and it's the last chance to change the bill, it's read a third time and if it becomes certified by the Clerk of the house it's sent to the governor general for royal signing and to become a New Zealand law.

In class today we got into groups and had to write down the differences and similarities between the process of the making of New Zealand laws and the treaty. All the groups got a piece of A4 paper to write the similarities and process, my group firstly discussed some ideas then we wrote down our ideas. Once everyone had to finish writing down the information Mr Mitchell asked all the groups about the process of the class treaty we did. There were lots of similarities to the process of New Zealand laws as well.

The steps we did to make the treaty was... we firstly got into groups  (each table was a group) next all the groups got a piece of paper and had to get a pencil or pen. After that Mr Mitchell told us a Carr value we had to write rules for. The Carr values are: commitment, achievement, resilience and respect. We only needed to write five rules  that related to the Carr value. My group got given the carr value resilience, we all each wrote down at least one or two rules and gave each other ideas. Once all the groups had written down all the rules we passed around each of the groups rules and if needed we changed any words or rules we could. Next Mr Mitchell wrote down all of the rules on a slide show with each slide show being a carr value. The class voted if we approved on the rules. Then Mr Mitchell wrote all the rules on a google doc then printed it out to show a example of what a small version of the treaty would look like. Once Mr Mitchell printed the real version he rubbed tea bags across the paper making it look old as well as ripping some parts of the paper. Then the class all signed the treaty and got a treat which was a chocolate marshmallow egg  because it was almost easter.

What do you know about Parliament?

Needs and Wants

 Hey Readers!
This week in Hurumanu 3 we have been collaborating with another group to learn about needs and wants. We firstly learnt about needs, a need is something you need in life to survive, then we learnt about wants a want is something you don't need but you want/think you need to survive. After that we got put into two groups, I got put in the group called John Britten with Miss Costello teaching. My group read a story called fostering felines it was about how a dumped kitten would grow up to be a adult.

In the text it included differences in weeks, something that I learnt from reading the story was that all cats are born with blue eyes and once they have lived for seven to eight weeks their eyes change to their adult eyes. Once we read the whole story we had to write a blog post with three new terms and what they meant ( I already included them throughout this blurb.) What would you do to help animals?

Here is the text:
