Needs and Wants

 Hey Readers!
This week in Hurumanu 3 we have been collaborating with another group to learn about needs and wants. We firstly learnt about needs, a need is something you need in life to survive, then we learnt about wants a want is something you don't need but you want/think you need to survive. After that we got put into two groups, I got put in the group called John Britten with Miss Costello teaching. My group read a story called fostering felines it was about how a dumped kitten would grow up to be a adult.

In the text it included differences in weeks, something that I learnt from reading the story was that all cats are born with blue eyes and once they have lived for seven to eight weeks their eyes change to their adult eyes. Once we read the whole story we had to write a blog post with three new terms and what they meant ( I already included them throughout this blurb.) What would you do to help animals?

Invention Poster

 Kia Ora Readers!

This week in Hurumanu 3 we have been making posters about a invention we learnt about in the past term. First we got a piece of paper then we choose the topic we wanted our poster to be about. I choose electric fences because I have done most of my tasks on it and I learnt a lot about them. The Inventions I had learnt about from the past lesson are: Spring free trampoline, Electric fence and pavlova. I researched questions including the 5 w's and the h and made sure my poster had some images. A question: have you ever seen a electric fence?

Kiwi Inventors ( Hurumanu 3)

 Kia Ora Readers!

For the last few weeks in hurumanu 3 we have been learning about kiwi inventors and what New Zealand has created. It was very interesting to see what New Zealand has created throughout the years. I first choose my three things I wanted to read and do some activities on I choose electric fence,   spring free trampoline ( which I already blogged) and  Pavlova. The first thing I focused on was the electric fence I read the story then I created a powtoon for the activity. Then I did the Pavlova activity at home so I can get more ideas and do it for longer. I choose to blog about my powtoon  because I think I did better on it and put more effort on it. Have you made a powtoon before?

Here are three facts about the electric fence:

- The electric fence was made because a horse had an itchy back and rubbed their back against a car,

- Its portable and can move around,

- It helps organise  animals around farms.

Trampoline design

 Kia Ora Readers!

This week in hurumanu 3 with Miss Bancroft we have been reading stories about inventions that were made in New Zealand. First we had to pick a invention to read about and some tasks to. I firstly choose the spring-free trampoline I was surprised when I saw spring-free trampoline in the list. So I had to go onto Hapara workspace and begin or task. First I read the story about how a New Zealander created spring free trampolines, then I answered the questions about the story and after that I had to create my own trampoline and create a poster explaining how it's better than normal ones. First I created my trampoline on a google drawing, then I added it to a separate slide. Making the trampoline wasn't that hard but I traced some parts from a image to my design and then changed it up. The making of the poster was very fun, I added some more detail to it then I was supposed to.

Automobile timeline

 Hey Readers!

In hurumanu 3 this week with Miss Bancroft we have been focusing on inventions of automobiles. First we got a piece a paper then we had to draw a border next we had to write "timeline of the automobile" at the top of the page. After that we had to draw a line on the piece of paper for the timeline. Then Miss Bancroft played a video about the history of cars and how they became better throughout the years. The most interesting part of the task was seeing how cars were back then and how they weren't as safe to drive. Have you made a timeline before?

Here is my timeline:

Invention of the mouse

 Hey Readers!

This term with Miss Bancroft in hurumanu 3 we have been learning about inventions and what they do for the world. One task we had to do was read a story on epic called "forgotten history of every day inventions" then we had to pick one invention to answer questions about. I choose the mouse ( not the animal the mouse that works with computers) after that I made a slide answering all the questions, some of the questions were: why was it needed and how does it help people. Each time I answered a question I tried adding some images to do with the questions. The hardest part about doing this activity was finding the images to match the questions. Have you learnt about inventions?
