Netiquette πŸ“±πŸ’»

 Kia Ora Readers!

This term in our heroes ( hurumanu 1)  my class have been learning about the different types of bullying both online and face to face. I have learn't about cyber bullying which is bullying someone online and  bullying which is being mean someone repetitively. For this week in our heroes my class learnt about what netiquette means. We got set the task to finish a slideshow with tasks to do related to netiquette.

One of the tasks we got set to do was make a poster to teach someone what netiquette means. I choose to create my poster on Canva. Canva is a website you can create presentations, info graphics, posters, videos and make logos on.  Firstly I thought about what a poster would look like. Next I thought about how I can explain netiquette and then I created my poster. I hope you enjoyed my post and liked my poster and work.

How would you explain netiquette?

Here is the slideshow I completed:

  13. Now you have your plastic!
What is caesin? What is it used for?

  • Caesin is the main part of milk mostly known as protein.
  • Caesin is used in most dairy products.  It can also be used in processed food.
Results:

Before left over night:

After left over night:

What happened?

I noticed that my milk plastic shrunk after letting it stay on a paper towel over night. It became hard and grew mold onto the bottom due to leaving the plastic on the paper for longer than a night.  The colour had also changed it became a tan colour but more of a really light yellow.

Thank you for reading my post!

Have you ever made milk plastic before?

Reading Plus progress

Hello Readers!

Today on reading plus I have mainly focused on vocabulary and visual skills. I worked really well on vocabulary and visual skills and have improved. But the thing I think I struggled a lot on today was reading comprehension questions. I think this happened because I wasn't really focusing well reading so I got a majority of them wrong. Next time I'm going to work harder on the reading part of reading plus and try to get better at answering the questions at the end. I hope you enjoyed reading my post.

What do you mostly struggle with in school?

Why did the colour leave the Skittle?

Sugar coat dissolves in water.

Why did the colours not mix?

It doesn't mix due to density.

How to be Normal - Reading task πŸ“–

 Hey Readers!

For the past few weeks in Out-standers we have been learning about the different types of bullying and the after effects. For all of the groups we had to read a story and do some tasks related to the text. My group read a story called How to be normal, it was a about a girl called Charley she wasn't the same as others and she did things differently. Every time she would make a mistake she would get picked on by others.

The hardest part of doing this activity for me was finding ten adjectives and putting them in alphabetical order. The easiest part of this task was finding the meaning of the words. Next time if I do a reading activity in out-standers I will work harder on adjective activities so I can improve.

Have you ever learn't about bully's?

Here is part of my work:

What do you think?

Why do you think we gave you this text for outstanders?

I think the teacher gave the class these stories because it is

related to what we have been learning about this term. The stories also
include a problem with one person being picked on.

Reading Plus progress πŸ“–

Kia Ora Readers!

For the past few weeks in Reading with Mr Mitchell we have been using a reading resource called: Reading plus. It helps students improve their reading and if there already good at reading it can make them become even better. You start off by doing a reading test so the website can improve your reading from what level you're at at that moment. Reading plus isn't just about improving reading, it is also helps you with vocabulary and visual skills. I struggle quite a lot with Vocabulary and even though I have used the website to help me once, I have improved.

In Mr Mitchell's class we had to do a reading plus progress report to see our progress throughout using reading plus. We had to tell our name, what we learn't and our goal for next time. I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

Have you used Reading plus before?

HockeyπŸ‘

 Kia Ora Readers!

This term in p.e with Miss Bancroft we have learnt skills of different types of sports. One sport we learn't is hockey, it is played with a stick with a bottom curve and a hockey ball.  The equipment used in hockey to protect yourself is: shin guards and a mouth guard. I learnt how to score a goal, how to take control of the ball and how to pass to others without making the ball go the other direction and dribbling . . The rules of hockey are : you cannot use any other parts of your body to control the ball apart from your hands to control the stick, you cannot put the stick over your head and push don't hit. The potions of hockey are goal keeper, left and right defence, attackers and middle attack.

Have you ever played Hockey before?

Canterbury Floods News Report

Salam (Hello),

This week in hurumanu 2 with Miss Alpers we have been researching about the Canterbury that has been happening this week. We read a article about the floods and had to write a detailed blog post about it.  Below this small blurb a shortened story about the floods.

Met-service got a code-red warning in Canterbury which was expected to bring up to 400mm high by Monday. Springfield, the upper and lower part of Sewlyn Huts and peel forest, locals had to evacuate because of the massive floods. Kris Faafoi travelled throughout Canterbury to see the impact of  the rain and found out that about 3,000 houses were at risk of flooding. Burnham camp, three trucks and a ambulance got deployed to help with evacuations. Ashburton called the civil defence centre and locals got asked to boil their water. 30 houses in Selwyn district and spring field had been evacuated and safe.

Later in the day the Selwyn district council called a emergency civil defence team to help with this situation. People living in Selwyn huts had been evacuated and sent to darfield recreation centre. The water supplier got shut down due to the amount of flooding spread  throughout Canterbury. Farmers begun struggling, most farmers found struggling got evacuated by a helicopter and moved to dry land. A river in Christchurch got hit and got closed due to major flooding. Around 8pm a big tide of fresh new flooding went towards town.

Timaru also got declared of a state emergency, heavy rain showers came and concerned fellow locals. Two new people joined the civil defence team for Timaru to help people to evacuate. There were multiple road closers due to flooding and caused more people to evacuate. Fifty two schools and 24 early learning centres had been confirmed that it would be closed the next day. Many more problems had happened due to the flooding throughout Canterbury this included : trees falling, power cut outs, road closers etc.

I hope this blog post was interesting and taught you something about the big showers in Canterbury. Feel free to comment. What do you know about the Canterbury floods, were you involved in evacuating?
